TRANSPORT
OF MEDICAL SAMPLES AND MEDICINES
It might
occur that to ascertain the compatibility between donor and recipient,
or to confirm the suitability of the organ to transplant, specific lab
tests will be needed, that could be carried on only in particular
laboratories. These tests are usually very urgent.
It might also happen that hospitals could lack some specific lifesaving
medication, thus requiring the urgent pickup from the producer or other
hospital, where available.
Both these transport have the same characteristics.
Upon the reception of a request, specialized personnel is send, at once
or on an agreed schedule, to the pickup location, with one or more
suitable cars to comply with the transport under the most urgent
procedure. The Medical Unit at destination will be constantly kept
informed of the status of the transfer and the estimated time of arrival.
The service covers the whole of the national territory and, in special
cases, also foreign countries. Thus - depending on the urgency, the
destination and the weather conditions - aerial means might be partially
or fully used.
Each and every transport is organised for the specific request, with
personnel and means dedicated 24 hours per day. The delivery is,
therefore, ensured in the minimum time required to cover the distance
between the pickup and destination sites, with no unforeseen stop. |
